Dorothy M. Davis is President of Dorothy M. Davis Consulting, an international development communications consulting and project management firm that strategically and innovatively organizes complex issues into manageable and sustainable solutions. She credits her global and African diasporan perspective and multicultural affinity to having been born in Liberia to pioneering United States Foreign Service parents and raised in Tunisia, Nigeria, Switzerland, and the U.S.A. She currently serves as the founding Congressional Black Caucus Institute (CBCI) ECOSOC Representative responsible for shaping its ECOSOC Consultative status at the United Nations.

Ms. Davis’ unique career path thrives at the nexus of private, public and non-profit sectors. She is widely recognized for her trailblazing professional accomplishments and humanitarian leadership. She shapes global narratives, troubleshoots and provides strategic thinking for and in collaboration with the United Nations system, Heads of State and government, celebrities, civil society organizations and the private sector in the United States of America, Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, China, and Japan.

The impact of her work with the United Nations includes:

· creating the foundation of the African regional component (Africa UNiTE) for UNIFEM (now UN Women) of UN Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon’s global Campaign to End Violence Against Women

· initiating and managing an innovative partnership between the State of Louisiana and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation. The City of New Orleans and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival were the only American city showcased in the Creative Economy Corridor of the UN Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo

· creating and managing the Global Goodwill Ambassador Program of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as part of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s global celebrity advocacy campaign

Ms. Davis was a founding member of the Sirleaf Market Women’s Fund of Liberia. It was named for President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the first elected female President of Liberia and in Africa in 2005. She also chaired SMWF’s International Board of Directors during the Ebola epidemic from 2014 until it transformed into the Sustainable Market Women’s Fund in 2017.

Ms. Davis is the recipient of several awards and accolades for her professional work and humanitarian efforts. In October 2020, she accepted the TBBCA Lifetime Achievement Impact Award presented posthumously to her father, Griffith J. Davis, in her capacity as President of Griffith J. Davis Photographs and Archives (www.griffdavis.com). In May 2015, Ms. Davis received the 21 Leaders of the 21st Century 2015 Award from Womens eNews in the category of Seven Who Interrupt Legacy Narratives as a Transcontinental Developer of African Economic Justice. In April 2014, she received the Global Poverty Award from the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for the impact of her work with the Sirleaf Market Women’s Fund.

Dorothy Davis recently became a member of the Board of Directors of UN Women-USA. She also serves on the Boards of Directors of the Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture and the Arts (TBBCA) and the St. Petersburg Conference on World Affairs in St. Petersburg, Florida. Ms. Davis received her B.S. degree from Boston University College of Communication and M.S. degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
