Cohort #3 set to graduate!

The time seems to have gone by so fast. We are beginning to prepare for the commencement events for the leadership class of 2023 of the Dorothy I. Height Global Leadership Academy.

June 24, 2023, is the date of our in person and virtual graduation ceremony which will be held in Washington, DC, at 11:00 am. The venue will be announced once confirmed in two weeks.

This year’s class will have the honor of sitting under Civil Rights Attorney Janice Mathis, Esq. as the graduation speaker. Currently, attorney Mathis is serving as the Executive Director for the National Council of Negro Women. Her background includes serving as the Vice President for Legal Affairs for Rev. Jesse L. Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition.

Seat at the Table

The third cohort of the Dorothy I. Height Global Leadership Academy is preparing for a weekend in Washington, D.C. where they will be attending the coveted event – A Seat at the Table, hosted by the Solidarity Center AFL-CIO.

The International Black Women’s Public Policy Institute is proud of The Dorothy I. Height Global Leadership Academy our signature leadership development program for early-career women with an interest in global policy and humanitarian work. The class of 2023 candidates represent six countries.

The Seat at the Table is a high-level leadership meeting where the graduates would be able to engage with international leaders and discuss topics of interest; learn how to discuss, debate, and discover ways to address and solve problems that are happening in our world. This year, it is our honor to be hosted by Sarah McKenzie, Director of the Solidarity Center with invited guests’ speakers from the White House, State Department, Small Business Administration, Foreign Affairs Department, USAID, and Corporate America.
The event will take place on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 11:00 to 2:00.
