Our hearts are heavy as the news about the devastation caused by hurricane Matthew continues to come in. Hundreds of lives and homes lost yet the search has just begun in some remote areas of Haiti and other Caribbean islands. Right here at home in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas, many have suffered the devastating blow of this fierce storm, causing major damage to schools, homes, churches and even hospitals. The International Black Women’s Public Policy Institute, is set to do our part now, by continuing the humanitarian work we began almost 5 years ago, through People to People Partnerships. Supporting Community 2 Community, in adopting two communities in Haiti, among the poorest and perhaps the most vulnerable, we will turn our short term efforts to the massive cleanup needs. Thank you foryour prayers, thank you for your past support, thank you in advance for your contributions which we need immediately.
Within 30 days, IBWPPI intends to have 500 pairs of much needed work-boots and rain-boots on the ground in Haiti and Bahamas. These boots will be distributed to women, men and children all participating in the unimaginable cleanup efforts. The boots will help to reduce and prevent the injuries in the aftermath of this disaster. With the help of volunteers, and in partnership with Community 2 Community, IBWPPI will take the lead in collecting boots, having them inspected and cleaned, packed for shipping and delivered directly to community leaders and local staff of Community 2 Community. In the coming days, we will keep you updated on our progress through our Facebook page and our website. We need your help today. All donations for this effort will be used for this effort. We do not have a large staff or administration costs; therefore, we can aim your contribution directly to the goals.
